Hello, I am Cindy Kozicki.
I am the proud mother of two “just about grown” sons. While it hasn’t been easy, I could not be prouder of my two young men.
My oldest son was diagnosed with depression while in high school. This was a journey for me both as a counselor and a mom. I could support him through the experience. With the help of counseling, he has been doing well since.
The experience connected me to my clients on a different level.
It still guides me today in teaching a valuable lesson. We all have our struggles. It is important to remember that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.
My journey, aptly titled: “All the Roads Traveled.”
I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Rutgers University. Next, I pursued postgraduate work at the Psychoanalytic Institute in New York City.
Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, including schools, hospitals, and private practice.
I have provided lectures and conferences on suicide prevention, grief and loss, and the benefits of support groups for parents of chronically ill children.
Where Life and Work Converge
2001 was a whirlwind year. I lost both of my parents within eight months of each other; my marriage ended, and I started a new job. Little did I know the inspiration this new job as a school counselor would bring – both professionally and personally.
It was here I began my work with grief and loss. I had noticed many high school students had lost their parents as well. So I started a support group for teens. Oh, how I reflect fondly on my work with those teens.
This period taught me a valuable lesson. Experience and life lived only increases my skill set and ability to build meaningful, long-lasting connection as a clinician.
Nurturing Evolution, One Person at a Time
Currently, I find my passion in helping individuals by exploring ways to create positive change in their lives.
I enjoy working with all age ranges – whether a teenager who needs to find his way in a complicated, confusing world or a single parent struggling to manage work and raise a teen.
Another area to which I‘m drawn is helping others navigate their romantic pathways.
My goal is to guide my clients as they explore the roots of their conflicts and problem-solve their day-to-day struggles.
I pledge to create a safe, nurturing environment for you, in which we can foster a relationship of trust and consistency together.
